RN - Clinical Research Nurse - Full Time - Days - Utica, NY

Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Clinical Research and the assigned Principal Investigator (PI) the Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) supports, facilitates, and coordinates the daily clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study. The CRN works closely with the PI, designated department, sponsor, and institution(s), liaising and providing guidance on the administration of the compliance, financial, personnel and all related aspects of the clinical study. The CRN reports primarily to the Executive Director of Research Director of Clinical Research/Associated PI and interfaces with MVHS administration, compliance and Investigational Review Board. Core Job Responsibilities Facilitate communication of study requirements to all individuals involved in the study. Provide training and tools for study team members, document training dates and signatures on the study-specific training log. Educate stakeholders on protocol specifics (procedures, timelines, inclusion/exclusion criteria, confidentiality, privacy, human protections). Collect and submit necessary documents to initiate the study (e.g., FDA Form 1572, CVs). Develop and implement recruitment strategies in accordance with IRB approvals. Conduct or participate in the informed consent process, including interactions with the IRB and participant discussions. Obtain and date appropriate signatures on consent forms and ensure amended consents are implemented. Screen subjects for eligibility using protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria and document eligibility or exclusion. Register participants in the coordinating center and billing matrix to ensure correct funding source. Coordinate participant tests and procedures. Collect data as required by the protocol and ensure timely completion of case report forms. Maintain adherence to study timelines. Maintain inventory of study supplies; ensure investigational drug/device accountability per sponsor protocol. Complete and maintain all study documentation per sponsor and organizational requirements. Retain all study records in accordance with sponsor and organizational policies. Maintain effective communication with sponsor, participants, and PI throughout the study. Assist PI with protocol modifications in accordance with regulations and policies. Manage day‑to‑day study activities, problem‑solving, communication, and protocol management. Engage with subjects and address their concerns. Perform other duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Life or Health Science, or equivalent experience. Required: Minimum 3 years of hands‑on clinical research knowledge, including planning, executing, and analyzing trials and performing protocol and site feasibility. Required: Proven clinical research experience managing sponsor, CRO, affiliate, vendor, and/or site activities. Required: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and general clerical skills. Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and electronic IRB submissions. Required: Experience with Clinical Trials Management Systems (e.g., CTMS) and clinical trials software platforms. Preferred: Terminal degree in biomedical or educational sciences or equivalent experience. Preferred: Diversified industry or investigator‑initiated research experience showing program and resource management across multiple projects and proven leadership abilities. Licensure and Certification Requirements Required: NYS RN License.
