Team Captain Footwear & Apparel

Overview Lead a dynamic retail team focused on delivering exceptional service through product knowledge and athlete engagement across footwear and apparel. Job Duties & Responsibilities Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating their needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment. Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, and other visual‑merchandising guidelines. Promote and lead company programs, including customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, and private‑label credit card enrollment. Collaborate with the Store Manager (SM) and Assistant Store Manager (ASM) to develop 30‑60‑90 day plans that support business priorities for assigned department(s). Assist in establishing working plans for operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, operational and merchandising sets, and other day‑to‑day activities in accordance with budgets and financial goals. Execute and adjust plans as needed, using independent judgment and analysis of plan effectiveness. Act as Head Coach when the sole leader, performing general store oversight including opening and closing procedures, front‑end and cash office functions, and teammate supervision. Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports on a daily/weekly basis and assign workload based on skill levels to maximize efficiencies. Monitor progress against plans and adjust store goals to ensure uninterrupted operations and athlete support while meeting payroll and financial objectives. Develop and adjust effective schedules for direct reports to meet athlete traffic demands and operational/merchandising initiatives. Build and lead a strong, effective team that delivers positive athlete experiences, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining teammates. Ensure all teammates receive proper training and provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout the teammate lifecycle. Handle performance management, including annual reviews, promotional recommendations, and accountability for compliance with policies and procedures, including termination recommendations. Create an inclusive store environment where all teammates and athletes are welcomed and treated with respect. Adhere to and enforce safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures, as well as applicable laws and guidelines. Hold teammates accountable for meeting performance expectations and compliance with company policies. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 1–3 years of experience. Previous retail or customer‑facing experience required. Previous people‑leadership experience preferred. Targeted Pay Range: $49,500.00 – $63,500.00, based on a 38‑hour work week.
