Supplier Development & APQP Engineer

Picture your week in Olathe, KS: you kick off Monday with new product design reviews, mapping supplier risks and laying out APQP control plans. Midweek, you’re validating PPAP submissions, coaching a supplier through corrective actions, and fine‑tuning incoming inspection plans. By Friday, you’re reporting PPM trends and quality incident data to the Global Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) Manager, closing the loop on 8D actions, and lining up the next round of supplier audits. • Process assurance from concept to launch: Partner with new product development to plan supplier quality, perform risk assessments, and define APQP deliverables; oversee PPAP to production readiness.
• Supplier qualification and growth: Team with Sourcing to evaluate and select suppliers, conduct capability and process audits, drive corrective actions, and mentor partners on our quality expectations.
• Deviation and cost control: Lead nonconforming material disposition and cost recovery, coordinate with Quality Control on fault classification and escalation, and verify the effectiveness of 8D root cause and corrective actions.
• Data and visibility: Track and report key metrics—PPM, issues by source, closure rates—to the Global SQE Manager.
• Continuous improvement: Identify risk in products and processes, recommend preventive measures, and collaborate with design teams to improve manufacturability and quality.

• Proven supplier quality expertise in manufacturing; heavy equipment experience is a big plus.
• Hands‑on auditing and quality management systems experience.
• Fluency with measurement systems, assembly practices, and interpreting mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency in MS Office and comfort using quality control software and analysis tools.
• Skilled in quality improvement and problem‑solving methods (5 Whys, 8D).

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or purchasing.
• ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional preferred.

• Exposure to diverse manufacturing settings.
• Approximately 20% travel, primarily local/domestic (within 3 hours).
