This position will play a critical role in advancing the Preservation of the Forces and Family (POTFF) program, which is dedicated to optimizing and sustaining the mission readiness, longevity, and performance of Special Operations Forces (SOF). Through integrated and holistic human performance initiatives, POTFF strengthens both the Forces and their families, ensuring comprehensive support for those who serve. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), you will contribute to impactful research and analytics that drive evidence-based decision-making and enhance the effectiveness of these vital programs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of SOF personnel and their families while working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.The Licensed Clinical Social Worker position serves as a behavioral health care provider within operational units, delivering evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for psychological and neuropsychological disorders through individual, family, and group therapies. This position involves participation in professional meetings, conducting applied research, consulting with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining detailed medical records, possibly supervising trainees, performing case management, and engaging in military-specific training and activities as directed.ResponsibilitiesFunction within an operational unit as a Behavioral Health Care ProviderAttend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, and other meetings required by applicable regulations or as directed by the unit Commander of his/her designeeConduct applied research and clinical investigations in clinical/behavioral health/organizational social workResponsible for the application of social work procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, and evidence-based therapies, in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders using the following skills: individual, family and group psychotherapy, couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluationsConsult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and school districts as requiredMaintain accurate and current notes in the paper medical records (if created) and electronic medical records of all patients seen and produce reports of evaluation and/or treatmentParticipate in specific military training/activities, e.g., security clearances, use of the DoD or service specific clinical practice guidelines, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress and others, as directed by the unit Commander or his/her designeeClinically supervise unlicensed providers or traineesMay be required to perform some, or all, of the following activities:Participate in and successfully complete required DoD or service required trainingContact referred patients to assess treatment adherenceUse validated symptom inventories to assess current symptom severityAssess barriers to treatment adherence and help patient problem-solve solutions to barriersProvide patients with education regarding their mental health condition and treatment regimenMaintain patient information in a patient registryMaintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients contacted for review by the managing physicianRoutinely staff difficult cases with the referring provider, behavioral health consultant and/or psychiatry consultantPerform case management functionsKey QualificationsMaster of Social Work (M.S.W.) or equivalent (MSSW, MSSA) degree from a graduate school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)At least two years within the past five years in the independent practice of clinical social work in a mental health settingCurrent, full, active, and unrestricted clinical license to independently practice social work in one of any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin IslandsDemonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of clinical social work servicesPrior experience in brief behavioral interventionsMaintain credentialing requirements in good standing at a local MTFMay be required to receive and maintain clinical practice privilegesCurrent certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) from the American Heart Association, with documentation providedAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience working in a government setting, such as DOD or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MTFBenefits: Live an Extraordinary Life We care about your well-being, not just on the job.
