Express Employment Professionals of Baton Rouge, LA is currently seeking candidates for a Equipment Operator (DIRECT HIRE) position with a local construction company in Baton Rouge.

Job Type: Full-Time (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Overtime Offered)
Salary: $27-32 DOE

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. This position will focus on utility work and heavy equipment operation in a construction environment. The ideal candidate will have experience operating equipment such as excavators and dozers, a strong understanding of underground utilities, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on job sites. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be reliable, and work well as part of a crew while maintaining professionalism on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, and other utility equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform utility work including excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation
- Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and project instructions
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs
- Assist crews with underground utility installation and related construction tasks
- Maintain a safe and clean job site while following all safety procedures and regulations
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule
- Represent the company professionally while on job sites and interacting with contractors or clients

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of heavy equipment operator experience required
Experience operating excavators, dozers, and other heavy equipment
Previous utility work experience required, including underground utilities and site work
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a construction environment
Strong understanding of equipment operation, grading, trenching, and excavation
Reliable transportation and strong attendance record preferred
Ability to work well with a crew and follow supervisor instructions
Must maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and job site procedures
