The Clinical Informatics Specialist serves as a bridge between clinical practice and informatics operations, ensuring that clinical information systems, EMRs, and related data processes support optimal clinical, regulatory, and business performance. This role combines clinical expertise with technology and data knowledge to support system optimization, troubleshoot clinical workflows, improve documentation practices, and assist with reporting and quality initiatives. The Clinical Informatics Specialist collaborates closely with Informatics, Operations, and other departments to translate clinical and operational needs into effective system solutions. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Innovation & Data Analytics.

Key Results Areas

• Support the effective use, maintenance, and optimization of clinical information systems and EMRs, including Net Health

• Serve as a clinical resource for EMR functionality, documentation workflows, and system-related questions

• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve clinical documentation and EMR-related issues within established timeframes

• Assist with system configuration, enhancements, testing, validation, and implementation of new functionality

• Identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows through more effective use of technology

• Provide clinical expertise related to documentation standards, regulatory requirements, reimbursement, and clinical workflows

• Review and audit clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and payer requirements

• Assist with identifying documentation trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement

• Maintain awareness of changes in clinical practice, reimbursement regulations, quality programs, and data privacy requirements

• Develop and deliver training and educational materials related to EMR usage, clinical documentation, workflows, and regulatory requirements

• Support new system implementations, enhancements, and workflow changes through user education and ongoing support

• Provide guidance to clinicians and operational leaders regarding effective system utilization and documentation practices

• Collaborate with Informatics, Operations, Revenue Cycle, Medical Review, and other departments to address clinical system and data needs

• Participate in cross-functional projects involving clinical systems, reporting, workflow improvement, and technology implementation

• Coordinate assigned project activities, including requirements gathering, testing, validation, and user acceptance

• Participate in EMR, clinical informatics, and data governance initiatives and maintain appropriate documentation of decisions and action items

• Evaluate existing clinical and informatics processes and recommend opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and consistency

• Assist in developing and maintaining procedures, workflows, and system documentation

• Support organizational initiatives designed to improve clinical quality, operational performance, and user experience

• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external partners

• Participate in department and organization-wide meetings as appropriate, providing clinical and informatics expertise

• Evaluate and assess personal

Licensed or formerly licensed clinician (PT, PTA, OT, OTA, or SLP) preferred

• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with demonstrated informatics, EMR, healthcare technology, or related experience

• Experience working with therapy documentation, clinical workflows, and healthcare regulatory requirements

• Strong understanding of clinical documentation standards, quality programs, reimbursement, and regulatory requirements

• Proficiency with clinical information systems and EMRs; Net Health EMR experience strongly preferred

• Ability to understand clinical workflows and translate operational needs into system or process solutions

• Independent and self-motivated

• Ability to provide information in a concise manner

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data trends effectively
