PRN Radiology TechnologistTownsen Memorial Surgery Center-Kingwood is looking for a PRN Radiology Technologist to join our team! The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for preparing and operating radiographic, X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician/Surgeon.Essential Functions:Maintain sterile field and implements best practices while in the operating roomAssure all materials (radiographic supplies, proper ionizing factors, film) and other required equipment, are present and in working orderAdjust and set radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing and intensity of exposureMinimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices and patient shieldingPosition patient and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality X-ray of specific body area (chest, limbs, or other body part) requested by the physicianExamine X-ray for clarity of image, and retake X-rays when neededDistribute films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR)Conduct quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policyComplete minor adjustments to equipment and schedule necessary repairsMaintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.Report all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazardsCommunicate with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplaceProtect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocolsProtect patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA requirements, policy and procedureFollow all safety rules and adheres to the company standards of business conductPerforms other related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of human anatomyKnowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic proceduresKnowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniquesKnowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographicallyKnowledge of exposure factors, occupational hazards and safety precautionsKnowledge of computer and MS Office suiteStrong communication and attention to detail skillsAbility to perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely mannerAbility to set up and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipmentAbility to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedureAbility to maintain accurate patient records and organized systems to ensure timely patient flowAbility to respond quickly, physically, and mentally when priorities and/or the patients condition changesAbility to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issuesAbility to maintain self-composure, keep emotions in check, control anger and avoid aggressive behavior, even in difficult situationsAbility to adapt with flexibility, being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplaceAbility to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things doneEducation and Experience:Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology StudiesLicensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Basic Life Support (BLS) certifiedTwo (2) years of radiology experience in a healthcare facility (with one year in the operating room)Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
