The Communications Coordinator serves as City Care’s on-the-ground communications presence in Tulsa, helping tell the story of The Harbor and City Care’s work through compelling content, social media, public relations, and community engagement. This role works closely with The Harbor team and City Care’s Communications Manager to capture stories, create timely content, build local awareness, and ensure City Care’s brand and voice are represented consistently in the Tulsa community. 

Requirements:

  Key Responsibilities:

Public Relations and Storytelling 

Monitor digital media mentions and track news coverage. 

Support maintenance of brand guidelines and visual consistency. 

Represent City Care at local events to build community awareness and promote the organization's public image. 

Assist with creation of marketing materials (flyers, brochures, event promotions) 

Coordinate with Harbor program staff to gather stories of transformation. 

Build and maintain a digital library of stock photos, event photos, and media assets. 

Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with journalists and influencers. 

Support creation and distribution of press releases, media kits, and other communication materials to targeted media outlets. 

  Social Media  

Create engaging posts, graphics, and short-form content about The Harbor for social media channels to promote events, programs 

and impact stories. 

Monitor comments and messages, engage with followers, and own day-to-day social media presence for the City Care brand across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. 

Track and report monthly social media analytics.

Research and execute media trends that align with the City Care brand.

Communications  

Manage City Care website blog page and perform site edits as needed. 

Support execution of Communication Department's strategic initiatives. 

Steward relationships with service provider partners and community supporters. 

 
Skills & Experience:  

Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Professional Writing, English or a related field; or equivalent work experience. 

Strong AP Style writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Meta Edits, Canva, Capcut, and other creative platforms. 

Detail-oriented and highly organized. 

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally. 

Adaptable, proactive, and able to balance multiple priorities. 

Familiarity with homeless services or similar trauma-informed environments preferred. 

The ideal candidate is a people-oriented professional who enjoys building relationships, communicating ideas, and creating meaningful experiences for others. They are creative, organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and enjoy writing both long-form and short-form content.

This role requires local travel. Candidate must have a vehicle and valid Driver's License.
