ED Holding Support Position - Float Pool

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 4x12-hour schedule from 06:45 to 19:15.

Job Description

The ED Holding unit is responsible for managing patients located within the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. Candidates may encounter a variety of adult medical/surgical diagnoses and could care for PCU level patients. Travelers are expected to handle MS/Tele cases and float to the ED and MedSurg areas as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in the ED holding area.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Interpret telemetry and manage dysrhythmias.
• Engage with Rapid Response Teams as needed.
• Provide comprehensive care including colostomy and feeding tube management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy.
• Float between ED and MedSurg areas to ensure patient needs are met.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical/surgical or telemetry setting.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and management of high-acuity patients.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
