Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplants in a high-acuity oncology unit. Deliver comprehensive treatment, monitor patient progress, and ensure adherence to safety protocols within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, medications, and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
• Perform central line, mediport access, and lab draws following established procedures.
• Monitor patient vitals, symptoms, and responses to treatment, reporting any adverse changes promptly.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including central line dressing changes and CHG baths.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, execute, and update patient care plans.
• Document patient care activities accurately in the Meditech system and follow all hospital policies.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Texas RN license with at least 2 years of recent oncology experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in chemotherapy administration and central line management.
• Possess BLS certification; chemotherapy certification preferred.
• Be capable of floating to other units as needed, following hospital policies.
• Exhibit excellent communication, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy skills.
