Speech Language Pathologist Assistant - Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Position Overview

As an SLPA, you support speech-language pathologists in delivering therapy to patients with communication disorders across pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations.

You implement treatment plans under supervision, document progress, and support therapeutic activities in clinic, school, or healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screening, planning, and implementing therapy activities per the SLP's plan of care.
• Deliver therapeutic tasks such as articulation drills, language activities, and cueing strategies under supervision.
• Prepare treatment spaces, set up materials, and manage therapy aids and devices.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in the EMR as directed by the supervising SLP.
• Collaborate with the SLP and care team; report patient concerns and progress.
• Monitor patient safety and comfort during sessions and adapt tasks as needed.
• Maintain therapy materials and equipment and assist with equipment setup for sessions.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree from an accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.

Licensure:

State licensure or credential for SLPA as required by state law.

Certifications:

• ASHA-approved SLPA credential or state-approved equivalent
• BLS certification

Experience or Skills:

Strong communication with SLP supervision, data collection, and ability to implement therapy plans.

Experience

• Experience supporting SLP-led therapy in clinical, school, or rehab settings.
• Experience documenting patient progress and adapting activities topatient needs.

Preferred

• Experience with pediatric populations
• Familiarity with AAC tools and language development strategies

Work Environment

Work under the supervision of a licensed SLP in clinics or schools; collaborative teams include teachers, clinicians, and families.

Regular daytime hours with documentation in the EMR and potential travel to school sites or clinics.
