Occupational Therapist OT - Acute Care

MedStar Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team at MedStar Health Harbor Hospital! The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to patients, including screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, re-assessment, and discharge planning. They participate in program planning and protocol development and assist the team in meeting established goals. Primary Duties Provide evaluation services, including review of historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explain evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporate patient and family in goal setting. Demonstrate proficiency in implementing treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient's presentation, and the evolving health care environment. Consult with other healthcare professionals as indicated and recognize and document changes in patient's condition that require modification of the plan of care or medical/rehabilitation consultation. Complete appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely document and charge for patient care activities, creating clear records of the patient’s course of care. Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule and provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and empathy. Take initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth. Serve as a clinical instructor to assign students and assist with orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians. Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy. Licensure in Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia as required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist as required by state regulations.
