Registered Nurse - Critical Care Float Pool

Job Summary The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to care for patients. Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Document steps of the nursing process using proper medical terminology. Address problems and progress toward goals. Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate. Support unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities as evidenced by attending in‐services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Decision Making Make independent judgments from many diversified alternatives, subject to general review in final stages only. Working Relationship Coordinate activities of others (does not supervise). Lead others in the same work performed (does not supervise). Have input on performance evaluations but do not prepare or give them. Work directly with patients and/or customers. Interact with internal customers via telephone or face‑to‑face interaction. Interact with external customers via telephone or face‑to‑face interaction. Work with other healthcare professionals and staff. Frequently interact with individuals at Director level or above. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio‑psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail‑oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Education Minimum Education: Completion of the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, holding or entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
