Live Stream Broadcast Engineer - AppleTV

Culver City, California, United States Software and Services The ASE Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Stream Broadcast Engineer. Our team powers live streaming experiences in the AppleTV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party devices. You will contribute to the design and implementation of features, tools, and processes to ensure operational and engineering excellence in delivering live streaming events on the platform. Being a domain expert for live content acquisition, encoding, and delivery, you will drive investigations into any technical issues with the acquisition, ingest, encoding, and delivery. Description You will work cross-functionally with internal teams to drive new features and processes, interface with vendors on proof‑of‑concept evaluations and issue resolution, support event‑operations teams on live‑streaming services, and consult on the setup and maintenance of live encoding workflows. You will also work with client teams to ensure features are performing as intended across devices, diagnose and troubleshoot live video delivery issues with urgency, work with support teams to craft issue communication with leadership, troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations, and create, maintain and execute playbooks, RCAs, and integration specifications. Minimum Qualifications 6+ years experience Ability to effectively work with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and operation of highly performant video and media systems using IP based infrastructure, such as SMPTE-2110 and SMPTE-2022-7 Deep understanding of live production technologies and buildout of large scale infrastructures focused on live broadcast systems Experience with video monitoring tools (Video and transport quality monitoring) Expertise with live streaming encoding technologies and transport networks (J2K, JPXS, MPEG, SRT and HLS Protocols) Experience with 4k, HDR and ATMOS in live transmission and streaming environments This role requires full‑time, in‑office attendance Preferred Qualifications Network design and troubleshooting Some scripting experience (Python, Bash) Familiar with data interchange formats (XML, JSON) Familiar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI Experience analyzing system logs This role will require occasional after‑hours and weekend support. Experience with issue tracking and technical documentation. Expertise designing, integrating and operating broadcast infrastructure At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,000 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
