Position Summary

The CT Technologist performs high-quality computed tomography (CT) examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role is responsible for patient preparation, operation of CT imaging equipment, administration of contrast media when appropriate, image quality review, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards. The CT Technologist provides exceptional patient care while maintaining accurate records and adhering to departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Verify patient identity, obtain relevant medical history, and explain procedures to patients.
• Position patients correctly to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
• Administer contrast media and monitor patients for adverse reactions as permitted by certification and facility policy.
• Evaluate image quality and repeat scans when necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot CT imaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Follow radiation safety guidelines and ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide patient support throughout imaging procedures.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education programs.
• Maintain inventory and cleanliness of imaging rooms and equipment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT certification in Radiography (R).
• ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) or eligibility to obtain certification within designated timeframe.
• Current state licensure, if required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, and CT imaging procedures.

Preferred:

• One or more years of CT imaging experience.
• Experience with contrast administration and IV insertion.
• Experience in hospital, trauma, emergency, or outpatient imaging settings.
• Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and EMR systems.
