Designer 3 Newport News, VA Contract $31.13 - $40.95/hr Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. Critical Skills 2D and 3D CAD tool proficiency, AutoCAD or SimensNX Developing and checking ship construction drawings Material selection and BOM development Our client requires that candidatesmust have an active/currentDoDConfidential Personnel Clearance (PCL) to start, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Basic Qualifications Associates Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associates degree. Preferred Qualifications This position requires extensive experience with the arrangement design of shipboard piping or HVAC systems. Proficiency with both 2D and 3D design tools is necessary. Experience with checking the work of peers and coordination and implementation of charge orders is desired. This position requires the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ship under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders and may involve limited kneeling and stooping. #J-18808-Ljbffr
