Role: Welder

Location: Bastrop, Tx (must be local or willing to relocate)

Employment Type: 6 month W2 Contract, to full-time conversion

Hours: 40

Shift: Monday- Friday 6:30am Start

(night shift is also available)

Requirements:

• Professional welding experience in a production, fabrication, structural, or heavy-equipment environment .
• Strong experience with A572 steel ; A514 experience highly preferred.
• Flux-core welding experience required.
• Strong fitting and fabrication skills, including experience with large or heavy components.
• Ability to confidently read blueprints and weld symbols .
• Understanding of material preparation, preheat, welding, and controlled cooling procedures.
• Ability to produce welds that meet visual inspection and penetrant testing standards.
• Experience with rigging, heavy equipment, rolled parts, or forgings is highly valued.
• Stainless steel (303/304/316), aluminum, or bronze experience is a plus.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work in both indoor shop and occasional outdoor environments.
• Must provide required PPE and basic personal tools; major welding equipment is provided.
• Must successfully complete an onsite weld test and blueprint-reading assessment .

Responsibilities:

• Perform fit-up and welding according to blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications.
• Weld primarily A572 steel , with additional work involving A514 and other materials.
• Apply proper preheat and controlled post-weld cooling procedures when working with A514.
• Prepare materials and welds to inspection standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and weld symbols.
• Identify drawing or part discrepancies and communicate required corrections/redlines.
• Handle, retrieve, and track production parts using internal scanning and work-order systems.
• Work with large, rolled, forged, and heavy structural components.
• Coordinate with leads, inspectors, and production teams to meet daily priorities.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow all site safety, fire-watch, and PPE requirements.
• Perform occasional outdoor work as production needs require.
