Job Summary

Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) – Location: Not specified. This position involves providing high-risk labor and delivery care, antepartum, triage, and newborn/infant care. The role requires experience in hospital settings with significant birth volumes and includes responsibilities such as circulating in the operating room and working with electronic medical records systems.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and either Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Education and licensing requirements include a valid state License for Registered Nurses (RN) and at least 2 years of recent labor and delivery experience in hospitals with at least 150 births per month.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Responsibilities: Assisting with high-risk delivery, sterile speculum exams, fetal monitoring, neonatal assessments, postpartum care, and use of specialized equipment such as external and internal fetal monitoring devices. Staff must be willing to float to postpartum units if needed.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior charge nurse experience, community hospital experience, and trauma level I or II experience.
• Clinical Skills: Administration of blood and blood products, amnioinfusion, handling of complicated deliveries, neonatal and maternal assessments, and use of infusion pumps.
