Job Summary:


Pioneers Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week night-shift contract assignment. The RN will primarily provide care to adult medical-surgical patients, including spine and orthopedic post-operative patients, while supporting Emergency Department and other critical-access hospital nursing needs when required.


The ideal candidate must have strong acute-care Med/Surg experience, recent spine or orthopedic post-operative patient-care experience, and the ability to work independently in a small critical-access hospital environment.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and effective nursing care to adult medical-surgical and post-operative patients.
• Care for spine and orthopedic post-surgical patients.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to provider orders.
• Monitor and interpret patients' clinical status and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Support Emergency Department and other hospital units based on facility needs.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient-care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary clinical teams.
• Maintain complete and timely documentation in MEDITECH.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain an expected nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5.

Required Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted Colorado RN license.
• Minimum of four years of relevant nursing experience.
• Strong recent Med/Surg experience.
• Spine and orthopedic post-operative patient experience is required.
• Critical-access hospital or Emergency Department experience is preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.
• Current TNCC certification.
• COVID-19 vaccination as required by state and facility policy.
• Ability and willingness to work night shifts and required holidays.

Schedule and Holiday Requirements:

• Night shift.
• 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Holiday coverage is mandatory.
• No holiday requests for time off will be approved.
• Overtime begins after 40 hours per week.
• On-call participation may be required based on facility needs.

Traveler Radius Requirement:


The candidate's permanent residential address must be at least 65 miles from the facility. Local candidates residing within the 65-mile radius will not be considered.


Housing Information:


Facility-paid housing may be available in a shared two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment.

• Housing availability is not guaranteed until the day before the scheduled start date.
