Yard Loader / Yard Material Handler - 1st Shift 6am-2:30pm M-F

The Yard Loader / Yard Material Handler operates an enclosed sit-down industrial forklift in a lumber yard environment to safely move, load, and organize wood, lumber, and other building materials according to work orders and inventory requirements. This role works closely with other equipment operators and production workers to ensure materials flow efficiently throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate an enclosed sit-down industrial forklift capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pick up, move, and stage lumber and building materials according to work orders and production requirements.
• Handle wood, lumber, and building materials ranging in length from 20 to 80 feet, ensuring secure and stable loads.
• Load, unload, and transport materials throughout the yard and facility while maintaining proper stacking and placement.
• Coordinate with other forklift operators and production workers to move materials and complete orders on time.
• Follow work orders and material handling system instructions to ensure accurate picking, loading, and inventory movement.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining yard inventory to support efficient operations and easy material access.
• Inspect forklift and equipment before use and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working in the yard environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating industrial or heavy forklifts, including enclosed sit-down models.
• Experience in lumber yard or large material handling operations.
• Ability to safely handle and move long-length materials, including wood and lumber from 20 to 80 feet.
• Experience working with work orders and material handling systems.
• Strong material handling skills, including loading, unloading, picking, and staging building materials.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and inventory instructions accurately.
• Comfort working in an outdoor yard environment while operating equipment.
• Commitment to safe equipment operation and adherence to safety procedures.

This is a permanent position based out of Cedar, MN. The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. This is a fully onsite position in Cedar, MN.
