Description
The Early Childhood Dance Instructor is responsible for planning and leading engaging and age-appropriate dance classes and camps for children ages 2 to 7. This position requires prior experience teaching dance, particularly to young children. The instructor must be capable of teaching styles including Creative Movement, Ballet, Tap, and Combination classes in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate manner. Examples of Duties

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and implement skill-appropriate lesson plans that follow a logical progression.
- Provide clear information to students and families about class structure and expectations.
- Create a fun, inclusive, and safe learning environment for students to explore dance.
- Take and maintain accurate class attendance records.
- Ensure dance studios and storage areas are neat, clean, and organized.
- Select and manage music and choreography appropriate for each age group and class.
- Demonstrate movements and routines with enthusiasm and clarity.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Dress in professional, dance-appropriate attire during work hours.
- Follow instructions and guidance provided by the Recreation Supervisor.
- Address public concerns and inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Formal dance training required; a college degree in dance or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience teaching dance and working with children aged 2-7.
- Ability to teach a variety of dance styles and levels in a group setting.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Positive, patient, and responsive approach to young children's behavior and development.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Professional demeanor and a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all students.
- Must have warm, friendly and patient teaching style.
