Position Status: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 36 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview IV Therapy Registered Nurses deliver care to all patient populations in all care settings where infusion therapies are administered and where vascular access devices are inserted and managed. The IV therapy RN serves as an expert resource in vascular device selection, insertion, maintenance and monitoring with a focus on complication prevention and treatment when indicated. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Bachelors of Science: Nursing (BSN) Preferred Experience Qualifications Experience with IV insertions and IV management. Preferred Skills and Abilities Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution. (Required proficiency) Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution. (Required proficiency) Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods. (Required proficiency) Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency) Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution. Follows organizational standards and practices established to prevent and reduce blood stream infections in Central Venous Access Devices. (Required proficiency) Demonstrates competency in venous access device insertion, management, and infection control practices related to vascular access. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required Basic Life Support - BLS May be required depending on the department within 90 days of hire date. Other RQI's maybe required depending on the department, within 90 days of hire date. What you will do Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting. Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems, and issues.
