GENERAL MANAGER | INDUSTRY TAVERN

Industry Tavern is looking for an experienced, hands-on  General Manager to lead our upcoming opening at the historic Lackawanna Plaza in Montclair.

Located inside one of Montclair’s most iconic properties, Industry Tavern will bring new energy to a historic setting combining the warmth and character of a classic American tavern with a more modern, polished and elevated approach.

The food will be approachable and recognizable as tavern fare, but this is not a typical pub menu. We are building a  chef-driven kitchen and thoughtful bar program  with strong execution, quality ingredients and genuine hospitality at the center of the experience.

We are seeking a General Manager with 3–5+ years of GM experience leading comparable full-service, high-volume restaurant and bar concepts.

The right person is more than a floor manager. We are looking for a  hands-on, guest-focused, strategic and data-driven operator who understands how to build a restaurant from the ground up and then consistently improve its performance.

You should be comfortable owning:

• Restaurant opening and operational readiness

• Recruiting, training and developing a strong FOH team

• Building a positive, accountable hospitality culture

• Guest experience and service standards

• High-volume floor and bar operations

• Labor management, scheduling and productivity

• Sales, COGS and controllable operating expenses

• P&L review and financial performance

• Inventory, purchasing and cost controls

• Reservations, events and maximizing revenue opportunities

• Health, safety and operational compliance

• Working closely with the Executive Chef and ownership

• Using data and KPIs to identify opportunities and drive results

We want a leader who is  highly visible on the floor , comfortable jumping into service when needed, and equally capable of stepping back to analyze the business and develop a plan.

You should understand the balance between  hospitality and profitability  — creating an environment guests want to return to while building a disciplined, financially successful operation.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, develops people, communicates clearly and understands that great restaurants are built through thousands of small details executed consistently.

Experience with successful taverns, upscale-casual restaurants, chef-driven neighborhood concepts, high-volume bars or similar operations is strongly preferred.
