QC Scientist II – Microbiology
Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is hiring for a leading pharmaceutical and life sciences organization known for supporting high-quality drug manufacturing and analytical testing in Greensboro, NC.

Location: Greensville, NC
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: Up to $33/hour
Contract: 1-year contract with potential for direct hire
Schedule: Full-time; onsite laboratory environment
Position Overview
The QC Scientist II will perform moderately complex microbiological analyses supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality operations. This position will conduct testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, and production intermediates using established, validated, and compendial methods.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology or regulated laboratory environment , with strong knowledge of microbiological testing, laboratory documentation, instrumentation, and GMP/GLP requirements.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced microbiology professional looking to expand their experience within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform microbiological testing of in-process and finished products using established and validated analytical methods.
Conduct testing including:
Bioburden
Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET)
Particulate Matter
Sterility
Water testing
Perform qualitative and quantitative microbiological analyses in accordance with laboratory procedures.
Execute compendial and internally developed analytical methods.
Recognize and promptly report out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, or non-routine results .
Participate in investigations and recommend appropriate solutions to analytical or product-related issues.
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation as needed.
Accurately document testing activities, observations, calculations, and results in accordance with established procedures and systems.
Enter and review analytical results within applicable laboratory systems.
Prepare and support regulatory documentation associated with internal projects.
Communicate testing results and project information with internal departments, corporate sites, agencies, and clients as applicable.
Write and revise SOPs, work instructions, and other laboratory documentation .
Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment.
Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and testing materials.
Follow all applicable GMP, GLP, SOP, safety, and regulatory requirements .
Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes.
Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional environment.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, or another relevant scientific discipline is required.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field preferred.
3+ years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory or closely related regulated laboratory environment.
Strong knowledge of microbiological testing principles and laboratory practices.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative microbiological testing.
Understanding of microbiological method development and validation.
Familiarity with pharmaceutical quality and regulatory requirements.
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, SOPs, and applicable regulations.
Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
Ability to write or contribute to SOPs and method validation documentation .
Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and self-motivated.

Physical & Work Environment
This is a fully onsite laboratory position .
Candidates should be comfortable with:
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Periodic stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
Lifting, carrying, and moving items weighing approximately 10–35 pounds .
Performing repetitive hand and finger movements and working at a computer for extended periods.
Operating laboratory equipment and reading technical materials for prolonged periods.
Wearing required laboratory PPE, which may include safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, nitrile gloves, safety apron, and occasional respiratory protection .
