Thats just the beginning of the difference you can make when you join our team at Corewell Health./ppUnder the general guidance of the medical director, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following the written guidelines approved by the department./ppWe are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Cardiothoracic Critical Care Team within the Cardiovascular Surgery Service Line. This role provides comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge, with a focus on perioperative management in the Cardiac Surgical ICU. The APP will manage ventilators, sedation, hemodynamics, and diagnostics, and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams. Clinical expertise in managing complex conditions such as shock, sepsis, respiratory failure, heart and renal failure, arrhythmias, and post-operative cardiac patients is essential./ppResponsibilities may include advanced procedures such as central and arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheter placement, and point-of-care ultrasound. Additionally, the APP may sit on committees and participate in Quality and Process Improvement Initiatives. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up./liliWrites prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols./liliDetermines eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings./liliRequests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care./liliInterprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests./liliRelays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician./liliAdministers therapeutic measures and obtains specimens as prescribed./liliEvaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement./liliInitiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the client./liliDictates follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response, and plan./liliMaintains provision of preventive health services (e.g. screening, risks assessment, immunizations, PAP smears, self-breast exam)./liliDictates or writes patient history, admissions, care plans, progress, and discharge notes./liliInteracts with program assistants and data managers for optimal patient care./liliAssists in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care./liliConducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds and ensures appropriate and quality care for assigned patient./liliProvides on-call coverage./liliPerforms patient triage and determines the urgency of physicians evaluation./liliProvides symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment./li/ulpStandard qualifications include:/pulliMasters Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies/lili1 to 3 years experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a specialty clinical setting, preferred./liliAcute care strongly preferred./liliState of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required/liliAHA/ARC BLS certification required/li/ul/div
