Job Details Job ID: 5797432 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 23, 2026 6:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Position Type: .75 FTE Salary: $16.48/hour Job Description Grade: 15 Duration: 9 months, 6 hours/day Work Schedule: 6:30 am - 8:30 am and 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm Term: Non Interim Position Hours: 08/03/2026 - 05/27/2026 Purpose Statement: The job of CE Childcare Associate I is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with specific responsibility for implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators. Reports to: CE Childcare Associate V Essential Functions Administers first aid for the purpose of providing immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children. Assists students as needed with diapering, toilet training, feeding, etc., to address personal care needs. Assists the site manager with age appropriate activities by working with individual or small groups of children (games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc.) to present and/or reinforce learning concepts. Communicates with internal personnel to convey and/or receive information required to perform job functions. Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually to meet mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations. Distributes instructional and/or play materials to provide required supplies. Establishes positive individual relationships to build student confidence and self‑esteem. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of the assigned site manager to present and/or reinforce learning concepts. Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, and maintain a safe, comfortable, supportive learning environment while meeting mandated requirements. Maintains acceptable behavior standards to ensure that behavior is consistent with district and program policy. Monitors individual or groups of students in various settings (snack time, group or individual games, playground activities, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment. Organizes quiet or active, age‑appropriate indoor and/or outdoor activities to actively participate in learning activities with children. Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc., in compliance with established guidelines. Provides ongoing feedback to inform supervisor, teacher, and parents of students’ progress. Transfers children directly from/to parents or designee to ensure safety of children and meet District requirements. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skills required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill‑based competencies include preparing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand multi‑step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge‑based competencies include stages of child development; methods of motivating and controlling children; and awareness of codes, regulations and laws related to counseling students. Abilities required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use basic job‑related equipment. Flexibility to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific job‑related data; and utilize job‑related equipment. Problem‑solving to identify issues and create action plans. Problem‑solving with data follows prescribed guidelines; problem‑solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability‑based competencies include providing direction and leadership; communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; maintaining confidentiality; and adapting to changing priorities; working as part of a team.
