Job Summary The Restaurant Host greets guests, manages reservations, coordinates seating, and ensures a smooth service flow. The host also handles guest inquiries, resolves issues, supports the front‑of‑house team, and assists with training new hosts. Responsibilities Guest Greeting & Reception Greet guests warmly, provide menu and wait‑time information, escort to tables, and remind guests of preferences. Manage reservations through phone, email, or reservation system, ensuring accurate booking details. Maintain and update the waitlist, notifying guests promptly when their table is ready. Monitor dining room flow, balancing seating to seat guests promptly, especially during peak hours. Coordination & Communication Work with front‑of‑house, kitchen, and server teams to ensure smooth transitions and service. Answer phone calls, address inquiries about menu items, wait times, special events, and policies. Guest Experience & Problem Resolution Monitor dining area, proactively address guest needs, handle complaints professionally, and involve management when necessary. Team Support Assist servers, bartenders, and management with operations and guest requests. Train new hosts, share best practices, and support during busy periods. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in customer service or hospitality, preferably in a restaurant. Familiarity with reservation systems, phone etiquette, and high‑volume service standards. Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment. Professional composure during busy dining hours. Proficiency with reservation software and waitlist management. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods. Capacity to lift and carry items such as menus and supplies.
