Women's Soccer – Head Coach Location: Corinth Holders High, Wendell, North Carolina. Starting Date: Immediately. Position Type: Part-Time. Reports To: Principal and School-Based Athletic Director. Job Description Head Coach will exhibit high moral character and execute scholastic-based athletic principles. Ensure safety of athletes, teach good sportsmanship, establish a welcoming environment, and positively influence students. Work with administration, faculty, and staff toward district’s goals regarding the whole child, academics, and athletics. Qualifications and Attributes Graduation from high school or equivalent required. Previous successful coaching experience preferred. Knowledgeable of all athletic policies approved by the Johnston County Schools’ Board of Education. Knowledgeable of existing system, state, and conference regulations. Ability and willingness to organize and supervise athletic team members. Must possess superior knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. Willingness to obtain a CDL to transport students on an approved activity bus to contests. Maintain certifications throughout tenure. Knowledgeable of proper administrative line of command and referral process for requests or grievances. Knowledgeable of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance. Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate and participate in the budgeting function with the Athletic Director by establishing requirements for the next season. Recommend guidelines regarding type, style, color, or technical specifications of equipment and other necessary resources. Operate and facilitate the athletic program within budget appropriations. Direct student managers, assistants, trainers, and statisticians. Communicate expectations to all supporting coaches and encourage their professional growth. Delegate specific duties and supervise the implementation of those duties. Collaborate with the Athletic Director to analyze the effectiveness of the coaching staff using an evaluation process. Provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility. Maintain or acquire all necessary coaching prerequisites annually or as they expire, listed by NCDPI, NCHSAA, & Johnston County Public Schools. Be knowledgeable and continue to review and adhere to all NCDPI, NCHSAA, & Johnston County Public Schools rules and policies. Review all rules and handbooks yearly and prior to the start of each season for possible updates. Promote the sport within the school through interest meetings and encouraging multisport athletic opportunities. Maintain all medical emergency information needed for each athlete and understand emergency protocols. Promote the sport outside the school by engaging in the community, coaching organizations, and attending required meetings. Provide quality and approved communication to the public. Maintain good public relations with members of the community, Booster Club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. Through the Athletic Director, prepare and release information to the public including schedules, tournaments, and results. Establish fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught in assigned duties. Provide training, rules, and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant. Assist with monitoring student athlete grades and conduct. Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each athletic participant through regular attendance at games and practices. Follow policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies. Complete and submit proper paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries within 24 hours. Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection. Collaborate with the Athletic Director to inform and determine discipline, delineate procedures concerning due process when enforcing discipline, and contact parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible. Assist the Head Coach in facilitating required pre-season meetings. Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling, providing transportation, and meeting requirements for sports events. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and recommend policy, method, or procedural changes. Assist in preparing scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times. Coordinate athletic program with maintenance and school employees. Provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites. Accountable for all equipment and/or collection of fees for any lost or unreturned equipment. Arrange for issuing, storing, and reconditioning equipment and submit annual inventory and current records. Properly mark and identify all equipment before issuing or storing. Monitor equipment rooms and coaches’ offices. Permit athletes to be only in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times. Examine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sports equipment. Secure all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building. Instill in each player respect for equipment and school property, its care, and proper use. Perform such other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent of schools in keeping with Johnston County Board of Education Policy and North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes. Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform basic life operational functions such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. Must possess visual acuity to operate required equipment and motor vehicles, use measuring devices, and inspect work for accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to work standards and instructions. Must possess visual acuity to prepare data and statistics, work with figures and records, operate a computer, and conduct extensive research and reading.
