Honeywell's Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS) is an advanced safety solution designed to enhance landing performance and operational safety for aircraft during the landing phase. The ROAAS provides critical real-time alerts to flight crews, focusing on the risk of runway overruns—situations that can occur when an aircraft does not stop before the runway's end.

The system utilizes sophisticated algorithms and integrates data from multiple aircraft systems, including landing gear performance and runway conditions, to evaluate landing dynamics. By assessing real-time factors such as aircraft speed, runway length, and environmental conditions, ROAAS delivers timely warnings and advisory information to pilots, prompting necessary actions to prevent overruns.

As a Sr Advanced Software Engineer within the Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CN&S) Center of Excellence, you will join a dynamic team that designs, develops and implements advanced software solutions for cutting-edge Avionics technologies. Our team is at the forefront of pioneering solutions such as the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), Datalink Communications Platforms, Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS), and state-of-the-art Radar technologies.

In this role, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing and optimizing cutting-edge software solutions for Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting Systems (ROAAS). This isn't just another coding job; it's an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a tangible impact on the world. You will work on projects that involve advanced algorithms, data analytics, and real-time systems. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of our products, as well as deploying new products and functions that enhance safety within the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced software solutions for CN&S products, notably our ROAAS solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements
• Deliver robust, high-quality software solutions
• Ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction in software deliverables
• Decompose high-level systems requirements into low-level software requirements.
• Read and write specifications to create software requirements.
• Strong knowledge of Software lifecycle and Certification aspects of SW components.
• Create, maintain and qualify software development and verification tools.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 6+ years of experience in Embedded software development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, etc

WE VALUE

• Experience with embedded software and real-time operating systems.
• Experience in developing software for aerospace or safety-critical systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with real-time systems and embedded software development
• Knowledge of version control systems, specifically Git / Bitbucket.
• Strong understanding of DOORS or similar requirements management system.
• Strong knowledge of Software lifecycle and Certification aspects of SW components.
• Able to independently manage and lead mid-size projects from start to finish
• Knowledge of advanced algorithms and data analytics is of value
• Understanding of RTCA and ARINC industry standards is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
