Preschool Teacher

Duties & Responsibilities: Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures formaintaining order. Daily attendance of scheduled shift between 8:30-5:30, one hourlunch break. Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical,mental, and social development; such as games, arts and crafts,music, storytelling, and basic skills. Professional knowledge in promoting age appropriate learning;such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personalhygiene, and social skills. Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, socialdevelopment, and physical health. Decision making has a measurable impact on service delivery andoperational goals. Professional development and training as necessary to maintainand grow professional knowledge and skills. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally. Ability to maintain leadership in a classroom environment withstudents under 5 years of age. Ability to provide care for children’s needs. Ability to develop, design, and create learning curriculum. Ability to identify the development needs of others and helpothers improve their knowledge or skills. Ability to identify education needs of others and develop aformal educational or training program or classes to meet thoseneeds. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose thebest solution and solve problems. Demonstrated experience working in community engagement, earlychildhood experiences, and/or volunteer coordination. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diversefaculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as astaff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree. 1-3 years relevant professional experience or equivalent. Previous early childhood education or early childhood classroomexperience.
