Overview - The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Posting Summary - Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Golf Course Worker (Seasonal) for the Rutgers Golf Course. Among the key duties of this position are the following.

Greeter Duties: Greet players on 1st tee and provide them with course pace of play policy and any other course conditions/circumstances, record 9 and 18 hole playing times and communicate any issues with professional staff and seasonal course rangers/greeter. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course guidelines.

Starter Duties: Greet and assist players upon arrival, assist with transporting golf equipment for players across the street to the staging area, ensure each scheduled reservation gets to 1st tee time to be met by greeter, inform players of pace of play policies in absence of greeter, communicate any issues related to customers or course equipment with professional staff. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course Guidelines.

Player Assistant/Ranger Duties: Monitor and assist players in RUGC pace of play, ensure that players follow RUGC policies, repair ball marks and fairway divots and general trash cleanup. Must communicate any issues with professional staff and other seasonal rangers/greeters. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course Guidelines.

Practice and Teaching Attendant Duties: Maintain a safe practice environment by ensuring customers practice off matted hitting area and not grass area in front of hitting stations, pick clean and sort range balls, monitor practice green to ensure the sage use of the area, monitor golf team area for student-athletes and approve use only, open/close Practice & Teaching facility. Must communicate customer or equipment issues with professional staff. Position will adhere to all written RU Golf Course Guidelines.

FLSA - Nonexempt

Salary Details - $16.00 - $20.00/hourly

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience - High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

Certifications/Licenses - Valid Driver's License

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Standing for long periods. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to communicate effectively both in face to face conversations with customers as well as when speaking on the phone or over the radio. Be able to work independently and follow supervisor directions. Be on time.

Preferred Qualifications - For the Practice & Teaching position, you must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Knowledge of the game of golf is preferred in all positions.

Equipment Utilized

Physical Demands and Work Environment - Standing for long periods. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
