Join a collaborative perioperative team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Anchorage, Alaska. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Anchorage, Alaska
• Assignment Type: 13-week Operating Room RN travel contract
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370–$2,500 per week
• Shift: Day shifts; 12-hour shifts are available, with a typical schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week. A 4x10-hour schedule may also be available.
• Shift Times: Start times may vary, typically approximately 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m.
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Weekend Coverage: Required; weekend frequency may vary
• Call: Limited call coverage for call-offs only
• Charting: Epic electronic health record
• Healthcare Setting: 407-bed acute-care hospital with 18 operating rooms and approximately 40 daily surgical cases
• Floating: May float within scope to like units or nearby affiliated locations as needed
• Holiday Requirement: Must be willing to work two of the following three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Alaska; a license must be in hand for an immediate offer. Applicants with a pending license may be considered during the screening process.
• At least 2 years of recent Operating Room RN or perioperative nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred
• Recent Epic charting experience required
• Broad perioperative experience across general, orthopedic, spine, neurological, vascular, gynecological, ENT, urological, ophthalmic, pediatric, and trauma procedures
• Ability to work at least 50 miles from the assignment location; local candidates are not eligible
• Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
• All requested time off must be disclosed at the time of submission
• Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and patient-safety skills

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience.
• Support circulating and scrub functions according to department assignment, competency, and procedure requirements.
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for scheduled and emergent procedures.
• Care for patients ranging from neonates and pediatric patients to adults and older adults.
• Participate in a wide variety of procedures, including trauma, general surgery, orthopedics, spine, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, breast, bariatric, and robotic surgery.
• Perform specimen handling, surgical counts, medication and blood-product verification, time-outs, and other universal safety protocols.
• Operate and support specialized equipment such as robotic surgical platforms and advanced orthopedic and neurosurgical technology.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary support teams to promote efficient patient flow.
• Respond effectively to trauma cases, urgent procedures, and changing clinical priorities.
• Float within scope when needed and maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection-prevention standards, and documentation requirements.
