Position Type: Permanent Full Time Duration: Temp/DirectTechnical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Process and Control Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading, integrated provider of construction, repair, and engineering services.Position Overview: Provide substation protection and control design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission substation engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services. Provide technical competency and direction on complex engineering and technical problems for projects including a wide range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems and solar collector substations. The incumbent is expected to lead discipline work for projects, perform responsible charge engineering duties, and manage project schedules and budgets. The incumbent will also support proposal development and project cost estimating. Duties & Responsibilities:Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipmentProficient in design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer design and protection schemes and associated settingsAdvanced understanding of SCADA communication designAbility to lead a team of engineers and designers in a lead engineer capacityProficient in principles of project managementBasic understanding of substation design to include equipment arrangementsCreate substation P&C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projectsAbility to read, interpret, design, and engineer P&C designs for utility stations through 500kV, including one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADAAbility to perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordinationPerform calculations and studies using client specified software and standardsOversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/draftersExperience checking designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standardsCollaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and clientsVisit sites, advise on P&C engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during constructionManage budgets and project schedulesJob RequirementsRequirements:Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience as a practicing engineerBachelor's degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master's or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering ProgramsLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to be licenses within one (1) yearTechnical Solutions Inc. provides a wide range of staffing services throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
