Job Summary: Test Technician 1, Instruments (Contractor)

Location: Sparks, MD 21152 | Pay Rate: $28/hr | Shift: 7am-3:30pm

Responsibilities

- Assemble, integrate, and test production instruments according to established procedures and quality standards
- Perform electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting on non-functioning test equipment
- Analyze test results and data to determine pass/fail status; develop solutions for performance issues
- Recommend and support design and process improvements for instrument optimization
- Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards
- Train and mentor team associates in mechanical assembly and testing processes
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality requirements (including GMP)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed
- Adapt to changing assignments and work overtime as business needs require

Required Skills and Experience

- AA degree in mechatronics or related field, or 5+ years' hands-on experience in electronic, mechanical, or software troubleshooting
- Expertise in instrument testing, assembly, and functional analysis
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple production orders within time standards
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in English communication (reading, writing, analyzing charts, following diagrams)
- Basic PC skills and familiarity with Windows environments

Preferred Skills

- Prior experience in regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting Kaizen, Blitzes, and other CI initiatives
- Additional certifications in electronics or instrumentation
- Long-term, steady work history
