Responsibilities The RNFA/RN Registered Nurse First Assistant is responsible for direct patient care in the assigned department and other areas as needed. Responsibilities include: Demonstrate adherence to federal and state regulations and participate in routine equipment checks. Collaborate with leadership and staff, share ideas, utilize resources, and assist in cross training. Assist the Director with projects that support hospital mission and values. Promote teamwork to provide patient-focused care. Perform intraoperative nursing behaviors such as: Handling and/or cutting tissue Providing exposure Using instruments/medical devices Suturing Providing hemostasis Saphenous vein harvesting Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN recommended standards accepted by the Certification Board of Perioperative Nursing. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current state licensure, Certified in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR), and Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) or in process of obtaining within six months of employment. Current BLS required. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years recent perioperative nursing experience with competency in scrubbing, circulating, or first assisting roles.
