Preparation Cook Part-Time

The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is seeking professional Preparation Cooks to work in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Position requires flexibility with scheduling. Compensation: Starting at $15.00/hour Expected Hours: up to 30 hours/week

Essential Duties:

• Assists in all aspects of food preparation as needed
• Follows both the written and verbal preparation lists
• Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash
• Executing food products as intended based on the Chef's guidelines and specifications
• Works independently and with minimal supervision
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and write
• Work efficiently and expediently
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils
• Ability to work weekends, all holidays, mornings, and nights
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to perform well in a high-volume environment
• Must be able to go up & down stairs in our multi-level kitchen

Work Environment:

This position is based in a commercial kitchen environment, often hot, humid, and fast-paced. Exposure to cooking equipment, cleaning chemicals, and sharp instruments is routine. Teamwork is essential in this high-energy setting.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchen. Tasks involve repetitive motion and use of hands to handle food, tools, or controls. The role requires stamina, manual dexterity, and awareness of food safety standards.
