Project Coordinator - Health Systems Department

Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Program Manager or Department Director, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, developing, monitoring, administering activities, and outreaching to target communities. This position will coordinate project services and project activities, including training, communication, and information dissemination. This position will work with staff to ensure that all scope of work activities are completed in a timely manner. The Project Coordinator will also work directly with the Tribal Health Program (THP) and/or Tribal staff. This position will be responsible for completing required reports, helping develop partnerships, and working directly with the funding agency. As necessary, this position will provide technical assistance and training to tribes and Tribal health program staff, and coordinate with relevant agencies or departments to measure program progress, outcomes, and deliverables.Essential FunctionsAnalyzes program plans; develops and administers program objectives, activities, staffing needs, and funding allotments for tribes and/or THP.Monitors program to ensure compliance with contract provisions and funding source regulations; recommends and facilitates implementation of procedural and operational changes to maximize service delivery and enhance revenues.Provides training and technical assistance to Tribal organizations, THP clinics, American Indian community members, and state/county programs.Acts as liaison and resource to Tribal organizations and other service providers, county departments, state or other funding sources, and community and business organizations; participates in a variety of internal and external meetings, committees, and coalitions; interacts with various planning councils and boards; answers questions and provides training and technical assistance as required.Serves as an expert and a health education resource to Tribal organizations, American Indian organizations, as well as other professional organizations that serve American Indians and their communities.Coordinates the development, production, and dissemination of educational materials and promotional items.Communicates health education needs, concerns, and resources regarding American Indian populations.Prepares and disseminates all necessary reports.Acts as a representative with various workgroups, networks, and/or task forces.Pursues funding opportunities to sustain and expand program activities, resources, and longevity.Monitors specifically funded program activities and special projects, as assigned.Regular and predictable attendance.Performs other relevant duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesMaintain a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance for the purpose of potentially driving agency vehicles.Position requires frequent travel throughout California.Position may require overnight travel within CRIHB's service area.Requires the ability to drive up to seven (7) hours a day.QualificationsCRIHB recognizes equivalent combinations of educationtraining and progressively responsible experience may be considered. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all applicants.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, or a closely related field; andA minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including:Three (3) years directly related to the program area (e.g., grant writing, health research, technical writing, or data coordination).Applicants who do not possess a bachelor’s degree (but meet the high school minimum requirement) must have at least nine (9) years of progressively professional experience demonstrating comparable scope and responsibility. This must include at least three (3) years in a related field.Preferred Education and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Public Health, Health Communications, or a related field is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of behavioral health and public health theories, principles, goals, and objectives.Strong understanding of program planning, development, and evaluation, including budget preparation and monitoring for grants, contracted services, and state/federal funding.Experience with contract negotiation and monitoring, preferably in the public health field.Proficiency in word processing and graphics software.Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Experience with Tribal health systems, nonprofit organizations, or the public sector preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and other relevant research or documentation software.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and American Indian self-determination.Cultural CompetencyThis position requires an awareness and a profound respect for American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs. It also requires the ability to meet and deal effectively with Indian organizationsat all times, which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling sensitive matters.Indian PreferencePreference in hiring is extended to qualified American Indians or Alaska Native applicants in accordance with CRIHB’s Indian Preference policy, as provided under Title 25 U.S.C. § 5307(b). This policy ensures that qualified Native applicants receive priority consideration in the hiring process. However, the final selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of all candidates’ qualifications, experience, and alignment with the specific needs of the position.
