Certified Surgical Technician, CVOR

Job Summary Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies and medications to surgeons during cases. Performs a variety of technical skills, including maintaining supplies. Qualifications Recent open‑heart or cardiothoracic experience required. Job Requirements High School Education/GED or equivalent (Required) Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience (Preferred) Scrub technician experience (Preferred) Operating room experience and/or training course (Preferred) Licenses / Certifications Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS‑C (NCCT) certification (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (Required) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Preferred) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (NCCT‑ST) certification (Required) Essential Functions Prepares supplies and equipment prior to each surgical case and assembles appropriate supplies/equipment. Reviews equipment inventory for specialty as assigned and sets up operative instrumentation and sterile field. Collects data on surgical cases according to unit’s Performance Standards of Care, cleans equipment and facilities as needed, and performs housekeeping duties. Transports patients as required, provides clerical duties, and completes instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with RN. Maintains a neat and orderly sterile field, labels solutions, and performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
