Job Title: 1st Shift Warehouse Worker (Distribution Center)

Job Description

The Warehouse Worker plays a key role in daily warehouse operations by safely moving, storing, and preparing materials and products for shipment. This position operates forklifts and other material handling equipment, uses RF scanners to manage inventory, and supports picking, packing, loading, and unloading activities to ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner once certified by an internal trainer.
• Perform a variety of warehouse tasks off the forklift, including picking and packing orders, general labor, and material handling duties.
• Use RF scanners to accurately pick items, update inventory records, and ensure proper tracking of materials throughout the distribution center.
• Load and unload trucks, ensuring products are handled carefully and staged correctly for shipping or storage.
• Put materials away in designated storage locations and stage products for outbound orders according to warehouse procedures.
• Work comfortably at heights when operating equipment that reaches the top levels of shelving and racking systems.
• Lift and move items weighing approximately 20–30 pounds on a regular basis as part of daily warehouse activities.
• Use pallet jacks and other warehouse tools to move pallets and materials safely around the facility.
• Follow all safety guidelines and certification requirements, including completing forklift training before operating equipment independently.
• Support inventory activities, including counting, verifying, and organizing stock to maintain accurate warehouse inventory.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals, maintain a clean and organized work area, and complete tasks as assigned by warehouse leadership.
• Remain flexible and willing to perform non-forklift duties while awaiting forklift certification and as operational needs require.

Essential Skills

• 6 months to 1 year of warehouse picking and packing experience.
• 6 months to 1 year of forklift operating experience.
• Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts after completing internal certification.
• Experience with general labor and material handling in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to use RF scanners for picking, inventory updates, and order processing.
• Skills in loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency with pallet jacks and basic warehouse equipment.
• Capability to lift and move 20–30 pounds regularly.
• Comfort working at heights when using equipment that reaches upper shelving.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks, including picking, packing, inventory, and general warehouse duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with warehouse inventory processes and basic inventory control.
• Experience in packaging and preparing orders for shipment.
• Ability to adapt to different material handling tasks and learn new equipment and processes through on-the-job training.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, packing, and inventory recording.
• Reliability in adhering to scheduled shifts and overtime requirements as needed.
• Interest in long-term growth within a warehouse or distribution center environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a distribution center on 1st shift, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at $20.60/hr. The environment is an active warehouse setting that involves operating forklifts and pallet jacks, using RF scanners, working at varying heights on racking systems, and performing frequent lifting of 20–30 pounds. Team members work closely together in a smaller, hands-on operation that emphasizes safety, training, and efficient material flow throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jefferson, WI.

The pay range for this position is $20.85 - $20.85/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
