Hospice Registered Nurse

Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to the terminally ill Hospice patient as needed. The role supports patients and families in the home care setting and during bereavement, and works as a member of the Hospice team to provide comprehensive Hospice care. Employee First Benefits Competitive compensation, including Medical (BCBS), Dental, Vision and an HSA Continued growth and education from training, supportive leadership, and collaboration Community‑based visits, means less travel time A company‑provided tablet with 24/7/365 IT support Dedicated schedulers to support flexible scheduling options Mileage reimbursement Generous PTO/holiday (20 days first year) Tuition reimbursement up to $2,500 per year Pet insurance Employee First Culture What makes you different, makes us great You are part of a team Your unique experiences and perspectives inspire others Peer recognition program with quarterly and annual prizes A 1440 culture – one that strives to use all 1440 minutes in each day to create the absolute best experiences with every person, in every interaction Required Experience for Registered Nurse Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Currently licensed as a registered nurse to practice in the state Minimum 2 years of experience as a registered nurse, preferred Active patient contact within the past three years, preferred Ability to work independently, make accurate and at times, quick judgments Ability to supervise others appropriately Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes Accountability for Registered Nurse Regularly assess and re‑assess the nursing needs of Hospice patients Provide dietary counseling Provide Hospice nursing services, treatments and preventive procedures Initiate nursing procedures appropriate for the patient’s Hospice care and safety Observe signs and symptoms and report to the physician and IDG members any unexpected changes in the patient’s physical or emotional condition Teach, supervise and counsel the Hospice patient and family members about providing care for the patient Supervise and train other nursing service personnel Develop and re‑evaluate the patient/family care plan in conjunction with IDG to meet needs and maintain continuity of care Perform specific nursing procedures as needed (e.g., treatments, management of symptoms) following doctor’s orders Attend team conferences Maintain records as required by Hospice Follow the policies and procedures of Hospice; observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient‑related information in compliance with HIPAA regulations Always communicate to the supervisor if unable to meet a patient’s need or perform a procedure Participate in on‑call system and be responsible for providing on‑call coverage when unavailable for assigned duties Work with interdisciplinary group concept of patient care Coordinate the implementation of the plan of care for patients residing in SNF, NF, ICF or MR Organize work schedule and utilize time management to attend all required meetings Comply with agency infection control policies and protocols Assist with orientation, teaching and training as requested Perform other duties as assigned by Director General Working Conditions The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee without restriction to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The role is OSHA occupational hazard present. Physical demands include vision, hearing, repetitive motion and environmental factors. The job requires standing for long periods, considerable physical effort, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, exposure to temperature and humidity changes, and maximal assistance in lifting and/or transferring a 100‑pound patient. The employee must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties. A current valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation are required, as travel may be required. The work environment requires interaction with others and the noise level is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
