PAY: $18.00 - $20.00/hour (based on experience)

Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Michigan Medicine outpatient infusion units provide adult and pediatric oncology and non-oncology IV therapies. Multiple locations support patients requiring medications, fluids, and blood products administered through IV methods in a professional, patient-centered environment.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by performing a combination of clinical and administrative duties that ensure efficient patient care and smooth daily operations. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
Take, record, and monitor vital signs and medical histories.
Assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
Perform basic clinical functions such as injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection as permitted.
Administer medications as directed by a physician.
Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and sanitized.
Follow infection control and safety protocols.
Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars.
Check patients in and out, verify insurance, and collect co-payments.
Maintain accurate and confidential records within EHR/EMR systems.
Handle phone calls, refill requests, referrals, and communication of provider instructions.
Comply with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent depending on employer requirements).
Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
Experience working with electronic health record systems.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize.
Professional and compassionate bedside manner.
Ability to work independently and within a healthcare team.
Immunization records required.
