Responsibilities

• Lead engaging swimming lessons tailored to different skill levels, from beginner to advanced
• Develop customized coaching plans for individual students or groups.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement and confidence
• Maintain a safe aquatic environment by enforcing rules, managing behavior, and conducting regular safety inspections
• Communicate effectively with clients and parents about progress, goals, and safety protocols
• Assist with event organization, team leadership activities, or coaching sessions as needed

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a lifeguard or in water safety roles is highly desirable
• Demonstrated swimming ability with proficiency in various strokes and water techniques
• Experience working with children and managing behavior in educational or recreational settings
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey instructions and safety information
• Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED is required; ongoing training preferred
• Ability to lead team activities confidently while fostering a fun and safe environment
• ASL certified is a huge advantage

• Ability to work in the water for periods of up to 5 hours

• The ability to focus in a fast-paced environment
• The ability to commit to at least 1 year of employment, afternoons and weekends required

Experience:

• Competitive Swim: 1 year (Preferred)
• Swim Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

As a swim instructor you are responsible for the safety of each class and teaching swim skills to students using our curriculum. You will work to build water confidence within your students, encouraging each student to rise to the best of their abilities. You can expect to be regularly communicating with students and fellow staff members. You should be someone who welcomes feedback and is a continuous learner. As a swim instructor you will report to the Deck Supervisor or Site Supervisor during shifts and provide support throughout the pool deck as needed.
