Provider Benefits: CME, above market salary, sign on bonus, relocation assistance About the Role The Occupational Medicine Physician is responsible for promoting and protecting the health, safety, and well-being of employees through prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of work-related injuries and illnesses. This position provides medical oversight of occupational health programs, fitness-for-duty evaluations, regulatory compliance, workers' compensation case management, medical surveillance programs, and workplace health initiatives. The Occupational Medicine Physician collaborates with leadership, human resources, safety personnel, and clinical teams to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Essential Functions The following duties are fundamental to the position: (Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following): Conduct pre-employment, post-offer, return-to-work, fitness-for-duty, and regulatory medical examinations. Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses. Provide urgent and non-urgent medical care for employees with work-related conditions. Assess fitness for duty, return-to-work readiness, and work restrictions Evaluate employees' ability to perform essential job functions and provide work restrictions or accommodations when appropriate. Oversee workers' compensation cases and collaborate with employers, insurers, case managers, and other healthcare providers. Administer and oversee DOT physical examinations, respirator clearances, and other regulatory evaluations. Manage workers' compensation cases and collaborate with case managers and employers. Review and interpret medical and diagnostic testing results. Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and reports. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support employee health outcomes. Direct medical surveillance programs for employees exposed to occupational hazards. Provide guidance regarding workplace accommodations and compliance with ADA, FMLA, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable regulations. Complete employer paperwork associated with leave of absence related to patient injuries Develop treatment plans that support employee recovery and timely return to work. Provide immunizations and preventive occupational health services. Participate in injury prevention and workplace wellness initiatives. Client Support Serve as a medical consultant to organizational leadership regarding employee health and safety matters to assist client organizations. Monitor workplace hazards and recommend preventive measures to reduce occupational risks. Develop and implement occupational health programs, policies, and procedures. Participate in injury prevention, ergonomics, wellness, and employee health programs. Operations Maintain compliance with public health reporting expectations Collaboration and Consultation Consult with employers, safety personnel, human resources teams, and other healthcare providers. Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and complex case management. Educate employees and employers on occupational health and safety practices. Serve as a medical resource for workplace health-related concerns. Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, workers' compensation, and applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities. Maintain medical licensure, certifications, and continuing medical education requirements Minimum Qualifications Education: Required Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Completion of an accredited residency program. Preferred Residency training in Occupational Medicine. Licensure and Certifications Required Current, unrestricted Physician and Surgeon license in the State of California. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration, if applicable. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certified Medical Examiner (CME) designation for Department of Transportation (DOT) examinationsPreferred Board Certification in Occupational Medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM). Medical Review Officer (MRO) Certification. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of physician practice experience. Experience evaluating and treating acute and chronic medical conditions. Experience in occupational medicine, employee health, industrial medicine, urgent care, or family medicine. Experience with workers' compensation and return-to-work programs. Experience conducting fitness-for-duty examinations and medical surveillance programs. Knowledge Occupational medicine principles and practices. Workers' compensation regulations and processes.
