Fire Alarm Designer

Job Summary Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for a Fire Alarm / Special Hazards Designer. The role involves designing fire alarm detection and special hazard type systems for various construction projects, including clean agent, CO2, and VESDA suppression systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Design and layout fire alarm detection and clean agent suppression systems. Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and schematics required to support the installation of fire alarm systems. Maintain project drawing files, associate records, and documentation tracking. Timely completion and processing of required paperwork. Help improve the design department. Promote safety to the team members on their projects. Assist project estimator with project cost and change order issues. Planning, scheduling, and project management of the projects. Quality design & layout of fire alarm & releasing systems. Self-development and training. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electrical engineering, or a technical or business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience. Degree can be replaced with a minimum of 5‑year experience in the fire alarm industry. Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other software programs. High electrical & mechanical interest. AutoCAD experience preferred. Ability to multi‑task. Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. Must be organized and self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. Regular and reliable attendance, including ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
