Educational Interpreter - Cypress, TX

Help make an impact by providing essential communication access for a 9th grade student in a behavioral class during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity calls for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work onsite in an educational setting, offering support during all instructional periods (excluding lunch and arrival/dismissal times). The student utilizes Cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, and is adapting to classroom life after returning from a Residential Day School Program.


Qualifications:

• Holds at least one of the four national Sign Language Interpreter certifications (required)
• Proven experience interpreting in educational settings
• Proficient in supporting students using assistive hearing technology
• Ability to work effectively with high school students, particularly in behavioral classes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide ASL interpretation for all instructional periods (approx. 6.5 hours/day, 32.5 hours/week)
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment in collaboration with educators and staff
• Adapt interpreting style to ensure clarity and understanding for a student with Cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions
• Accurately support the student's communication needs to help him succeed academically and socially
