Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (Lead or Senior) Flying Qualities and Autonomy Technology Group, Vertical Lift Division, Ridley Park, PA. Position Responsibilities Lead a high‑performing engineering team, coordinating with program leadership and establishing technical, quality, and efficiency metrics. Drive flight control law design, applying control theory to achieve desired dynamic response, gust/disturbance rejection, system failure robustness, and load considerations. Develop and validate physics‑based linear flight simulation models for rotorcraft components (main rotor, tail rotor, fuselage) and support wind‑tunnel/flight testing. Design new and modified rotorcraft configurations from a stability, control, and handling qualities perspective. Lead and contribute to wind‑tunnel testing, pilot‑in‑the‑loop flight simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop laboratory testing, and flight testing to support vehicle design and analysis. Apply tools such as Matlab/Simulink and modern/legacy programming languages in Windows and Unix environments. Collaborate with test pilots and engineers across disciplines (aerodynamics, dynamics, avionics systems, structural design, crew systems) to optimize vehicle‑level characteristics. Occasionally travel (≈10%) for flight testing at off‑site locations (cold‑weather sites, high altitude, ships at sea). Mentor and train team members. Basic Qualifications (Required) B.S. in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent. 5+ years of experience with Matlab/Simulink. 5+ years of experience and/or education in aircraft stability and control. 5+ years of experience in team or project leadership. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of relevant work experience or a graduate degree (M.S./Ph.D.) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. Design experience of flight control laws for rotorcraft. Rotorcraft flight‑test support experience. Linear stability analysis experience, including aero‑servo‑elastic effects. 5+ years of experience with C, C++, and/or FORTRAN. Location and Travel 100% on‑site at Ridley Park, PA. Occasional travel (≈10%) for flight testing. Security Clearance Must obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required); final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start required.
