Blockhead Beerworks is gearing up for our second location in the heart of downtown La Porte, and we’re on the hunt for a standout host to join the crew. You’ll start training at our original spot in Valparaiso and help us bring the energy to La Porte when doors open.

Heads-up: Ideally, you're local to La Porte and cool with the Valpo commute for training.

At Blockhead, our hosts are the first and last smile guests see and you set the tone for their whole experience. You’re not just taking names; you’re welcoming people into our world, making them feel like regulars even if it’s their first time. You’ll greet guests, run the waitlist like a pro, seat them, and give them a proper send-off when they leave.

When you’re not at the door, you’re in the action, helping flip tables so no one’s waiting too long, keeping things flowing, and jumping in wherever the team needs you.

You’re also our takeout commander - answering the phone, taking orders, making sure everything’s right before it leaves the building, and making that handoff feel just as personal as dining in.

What You’ll Do

• Bring the warm welcome, and the friendly goodbye
• Run the waitlist + seat guests like you’ve done it your whole life
• Help bus, clean, and reset tables when the team needs an extra hand
• Take phone orders like a champ and keep quote times realistic
• Keep all takeout orders organized and on point
• Hand off orders to guests and process payment with a smile
• Keep food safety on your radar at all times
• Keep the vibes high with guests and coworkers alike

What We’re Looking For

• Restaurant experience = bonus, but not a dealbreaker
• A natural people-person who’s always friendly
• Strong communicator (in person and over the phone)
• Quick learner with POS systems and tech
• Organized, able to juggle multiple things at once
• Thrives in a busy, high-energy environment
• Food safety know-how is a plus
