Job Title: Forklift Operator 1
Location: Canaan, CT 06018
Pay Rate: $25.30/hour (includes shift differential)
Shift: Overnight, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to safely move, store, pick, and replenish products within a distribution center. The ideal candidate will have experience operating high-reach or counterbalance forklifts, using RF scanners, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Transport palletized products throughout the distribution center.
• Load and unload products, perform put-away, replenish inventory, and pick full pallets.
• Operate material handling equipment, including high-reach forklifts, counterbalance forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and dock stockers.
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and maintain accuracy.
• Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain product integrity and prevent damage during handling.
• Cross-train in other warehouse areas and provide backup support as needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of relevant experience if a high school diploma or GED is not available.
• Intermediate experience operating either a high-reach or counterbalance forklift.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification within 2 days of employment.
• Ability to read and understand distribution documents in English.
• Experience using RF scanners and material handling equipment.
• Basic computer, organizational, and inventory management skills.
• Manhattan WMS experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs in some work areas; requirements may vary by area.
• Ability to work safely around moving equipment and in a moderately to loudly noisy environment.
• Must meet applicable vision, hearing, and occupational safety requirements.
