Executive Underwriter, Inland Marine

Job Overview The primary purpose of this position is to underwrite new business, renewals, and drive projects with an impact on the business for Inland Marine in the Northeast Region. The Executive Underwriter will manage larger, more complex accounts, execute underwriting in a profitable manner, and utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges. Responsibilities Underwrite Inland Marine coverages with expert understanding and proven ability. Grasp policy language, including AAIS Inland Marine and COP forms, and broker manuscript forms. Analyze complex loss data using experience rating and loss rating, with familiarity with actuarial concepts. Collaborate with internal actuaries and present findings at underwriting meetings with senior executives, insureds, and brokers. Provide policy review and rating guidance. Participate actively in Claims meetings and reviews. Quote and bind new and renewal accounts per underwriting guidelines and strategy. Contribute to large risk strategy and marketing initiatives within the Inland Marine community. Maintain and adhere to underwriting file documentation standards. Build and strengthen retail and wholesale broker relationships across the Northeast Region. Present innovative marketing strategies and collaborate with regional leadership. Qualifications 8+ years of complex retail and wholesale Inland Marine underwriting experience. Demonstrated technical knowledge and progressive responsibility in underwriting. Marketing and relationship‑building skills. Four‑year college degree and/or CPCU or similar designation preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong analytical and organizational skills. Team player and adaptable to flexible, spontaneous business environment. Up to 25% travel within the United States. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range for the Executive Underwriter position: $116,000 to $159,000 per year with a 30% incentive bonus target.
