Media Researcher

$55k - $75k

Longwell Partners

Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC. We specialize in high-profile political projects—including Home of the Brave, Republican Voters Against Trump, and The Bulwark—and we're looking for a Media Researcher to join our team as we approach the 2026 midterms. About the Role: If you follow the news obsessively, have sharp political instincts, and want to do work that actually matters, we want to hear from you. As a Media Researcher at Longwell Partners, you'll be on the front line of the news cycle, tracking political developments in real time, identifying rapid-response opportunities, and helping turn what you find into compelling content. You'll work closely with our political communications and creative teams, and social media platforms will be a core part of your daily workflow, both as a research tool and as an output channel. This role is primarily focused on media research and rapid response. You'll work across multiple projects and priorities, plugging in where the work is. When news breaks, we move fast, and we expect this person to move with us. Your Responsibilities: Monitor political news and social media constantly to identify rapid-response opportunities and breaking stories worth amplifying. Conduct media and opposition research, surfacing past statements, video clips, and records that expose hypocrisy, extremism, or political vulnerability. Clip and package footage from political events, hearings, and news moments for rapid distribution across channels. Identify underreported stories that align with our pro-democracy mission and can shape the broader political conversation. Collaborate with creative and communications teams to turn raw research into social media content, talking points, and produced ads. Write sharp, platform-appropriate copy quickly and without a lot of hand-holding. What We’re Looking For: A genuine obsessive about politics and current events. You read the news because you want to, and you spot opportunities before others do. Sharp political instincts and familiarity with political messaging, elections, and the broader media landscape. Experience sourcing or creating content for social media or political ads, ideally with familiarity handling video and multimedia research. Comfort and fluency across major social platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Bluesky). You know how content moves and what cuts through. Ability to manage multiple news streams and priorities simultaneously without losing focus. Availability to be responsive when news breaks, including outside standard business hours. Ability to be in the office (downtown DC) five days a week. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity. Preferred Qualifications: Background in political research, journalism, campaigns, or social media. Comfort using AI tools to make research faster and more thorough. Experience with video editing tools or Adobe Creative Suite. Why Join Us? Salary range: $55,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience 100% covered medical insurance 401(k) matching program Metro-accessible, downtown DC location Opportunities to learn, innovate, and advance within a mission-driven, high-performance team #J-18808-Ljbffr
